Pulling something realistic out of its environment and isolating it on a colour field enables me to appreciate the ornamental application of its shape and colour separate from its function in the world. In the series Pattern and Colour 2010 I added powdered pigment to the acrylic paint to give depth to the backgrounds.

The recurring theme of my work in print media is the human form. My earlier influences were the illustrations of Edward Gorey and the world of fantasy. My current work is an ongoing experiment with the exaggerated human form – pen drawings of people where I emphasize or manipulate one character or emotion. I make silkscreen prints from the drawings.
